A Ka‘u man arrested Thursday for his alleged role in a robbery involving a hatchet was charged in that case and for another robbery, as well.

After police issued a media release asking for help in locating 23-year-old Kainoa Kahele-Bishop of Ocean View for a robbery Jan. 26, a 48-year-old Ocean View man recognized his picture and reported that he was robbed by the same man earlier the same day. In that case, the victim was fishing at South Point when he was confronted, threatened with bodily harm and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

At 6 p.m. Friday, Kona police detectives charged Kahele-Bishop with two counts of robbery, two counts of theft, terroristic threatening and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

The other arrest stems from a report Jan. 26 that a 47-year-old Discovery Harbor woman standing by her purple Corvette on South Point Road was threatened with a hatchet by a woman who got out of a white Toyota sedan and demanded the Corvette.

After the older woman reportedly refused, the two women scuffled and the victim was able to take the hatchet away and throw it into the brush, police said.

During the scuffle, the victim suffered a bite on the right forearm. A man then allegedly got out of the Toyota, reached into the Corvette, which had its convertible top down, and removed a bag.

The man then reportedly fled in the Toyota after a passerby stopped to intervene. The woman suspect allegedly got into the Corvette, tried unsuccessfully to start it, then fled on foot into the bushes.

Police later arrested 25-year-old Trinety Crapser of Ocean View and charged her with robbery, assault and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.
